Registration for Spring Sports is Now Open

Registration is now open for baseball, softball, golf, track and field, and lacrosse until midnight on Friday, February 28. Registrations received after the due date will incur a $25 late fee.

To participate in any tryout, practice, or game, all grade 6-12 athletes must complete the following:

%Any 8th grade boy who wishes to play high school baseball can register and begin practice with the high school program on March 10. Because NLA is on spring break from March 10-14, practices that week are optional but not required. Official practice and evaluations will begin on March 17. The first 2-3 days of practice will be used for evaluation. After the first 2-3 days of practice, coaches will determine the best level of competition for each player, either remaining with the high school team or playing against middle school level competition. 8th graders who do not make a high school team will be able to play on the middle school team and will be refunded the difference in fees.

#The start date of the middle school baseball, softball, and track season is approximate, depending on outside weather conditions and/or indoor practice facility availability. The exact start date of practices will be communicated to all registered participants in early March.

Co-op Information

Softball: NLA will co-op with St. Croix Lutheran Academy for softball, beginning in the spring of 2025. Registration for softball will take place directly through the SCLA website, beginning on Monday, February 10. Use this link to register. Amber Rodriguez will be an assistant coach with the softball program this year and can help with any questions you may have regarding practice and game schedule.

Boys’ Lacrosse: Beginning in spring 2025, NLA will co-op with Minnehaha Academy (host school) for boys’ lacrosse. The program, called the TRIMAC Blackhawks, includes eight other schools from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Students will register through the NLA registration website. Registration is open to students in grades 6-12. Players in 7th and 8th grade are welcome to try out for the high school team if they'd like, but if they don't make a high school team they will still have a spot on the middle school team. There will be one team for the middle school and a JV and Varsity at the high school level. The fee is currently TBD, so there is no cost upfront to register. Families will be invoiced at the end of the season once the host school determines the final cost, which is based on the total number of athletes and overall program expenses. Last year, families paid $440 per high school athlete and $412 per middle school athlete. For more information, please contact NLA Athletic Director Dan DeWitt.

Girls’ Lacrosse: NLA will co-op with St. Croix Prep for girls’ lacrosse. Students will register through the NLA registration website. The fee is currently TBD, so there is no cost upfront to register. Families will be invoiced at the end of the season once the host school determines the final cost, which is based on the total number of athletes and overall program expenses. For more information, please contact NLA Athletic Director Dan DeWitt.

**Please note** NLA does not provide transportation to practices or games for boys and/or girls in lacrosse. Students and families participating in these co-ops are responsible for coordinating their own transportation. Because NLA plans to bring softball back to campus in 2027, we will do our best to provide transportation for this co-op for the next two years.

Physical Examinations

If you have a new physical or are registering for the first time, please upload the physical examination file and enter the date of the physical examination during Step 4 of the registration process. A sports’ physical exam must have occurred within the last three years and must remain current throughout the entire season. (Physicals are recommended but not required for students in 5th or 6th grade.). If you are in need of a physical, your pediatrician, family physician, or places like Minute Clinic can perform a qualifying sports physical.

Schedules

For NLA high school teams, game schedules are available on the New Life activities calendar*. Practice schedules will be added to the calendar as soon as possible.

For co-op teams, please contact the coach or co-op host AD for practice and game schedule details.

For NLA diddle school baseball, softball, and track and field teams, game schedules won’t be available until mid-March. Once they are available, they will be added to the NLA activities calendar.

ATHLETIC TRANSPORTATION

Transportation policies outlined below exist for the safety of all students and liability for families.

High School Games: Transportation is provided for most away games when the team departs directly from school. Athletes may ride home with their parents but must check with their coach first. If return transportation is not available, it will be communicated in advance.

Middle School Games: Transportation is provided for most away games starting at 4:45 PM or earlier on weekdays when NLA is in session, subject to driver availability. Parents are responsible for transportation to any away games that start after 4:45 PM, on weekends, or on non-school days. Return transportation to NLA is not provided.

Transportation for Co-ops: NLA does not provide transportation to practices or games for co-op sports. Students and families participating in co-ops are responsible for coordinating their own transportation.

  1. A student does not make a team after the tryout process.
  2. A student elects not to participate on a team or suffers a season-ending injury within the first 7 days from the start of the season.

50% Refund will be given when:
